Living in Frankston on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Malcolm’s fascination with technology began early in life, leading him to a career in electronic servicing and repairs. His science background, as well as his technical aptitude, propelled his career forward.
Curious to learn how things work, Malcolm can often be found tinkering. “I do like pulling things apart to understand how they work,” he shares. “Nine times out of ten I even manage to put them back together,” he jokes.
His primary joy lies, however, in the process of understanding and repairing. This hands-on approach has defined his career, providing satisfaction whenever he successfully solves an issue with a device.
Path to MePACS
Malcolm’s journey to MePACS began with a role that piqued his interest involving the 3G to 4G upgrade. Although the job description didn’t fully match the role, he embraced the challenge. “I’ve actually enjoyed it,” he reflects on his year-long tenure. Working with a supportive and enjoyable team has been a significant highlight for Malcolm, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
For Malcolm, the best part of his day at MePACS is the satisfaction of resolving issues and restoring services for clients. “I leave for home each day satisfied that I have resolved issues and got people back to where they expected their service and their product to be,” he notes. This sense of accomplishment is particularly rewarding when dealing with distressed clients, as Malcolm’s expertise and empathy help turn their frustrations into relief.
Navigating the unpredictable Technical Support area
For Malcolm and the Technical Support team, a typical day is anything but typical. The unpredictable nature of client calls keeps the job interesting and challenging. Whether it’s activating a new device or troubleshooting issues, Malcolm thrives on diagnosing and solving problems. His approach is methodical yet adaptive, ensuring clients receive the best possible support.
Balancing work and personal life
Outside of work, Malcolm enjoys reading, particularly a variety of online content about world affairs and politics. He admits to being a bit of a Twitter (X) addict, using the platform to stay informed about current events.
During the winter months, Malcolm enjoys sitting by his family’s open fireplace with a good read. The warmth and tranquillity of the fireplace provides a perfect setting for relaxation and reflection.
