Dean Richardson is the Director at MePACS Personal Alarms. Dean sat down with us and gave us an insight into his role and what he likes to do outside of work.
What is your role at MePACS?
I have been working with Peninsula Health for almost 10 years. I started as an IT manager where I was in the role for 5 years, I then join MePACS in my current role as Director of MePACS.
What is your professional background?
I have an IT background. In previous roles, I was a stock broker and I also developed and sold Hedge fund trading strategies within Australia and overseas.
Why did you choose to work at MePACS?
I was drawn to working with MePACS as I liked that the service made such a difference in people’s lives, there are not many companies out there where you can say we help save lives. It’s extremely rewarding working for a company like MePACS where we have so many thankful clients and family members – we are all very fortunate to work here.
What does a typical day in your role involve?
I make sure that the business runs smoothly. Making sure that we are doing is at the forefront of the industry. I’m always looking at what the market is doing, what new technology is out there, our clients changing needs and make sure that our service runs efficiently on a day to day basis.
What has been a highlight or memorable moment whilst working at MePACS?
Moving offices from a shared hospital building to our own stand-alone office. Seeing the company grow and also winning the Victorian PAV contract was a great achievement for the organisation.
What do you do outside of work / for fun?
I like to surf on our local Mornington Peninsula beaches. I enjoy the outdoors and love gardening too. I also have 2 daughters and a son that I watch play sport on the weekend. I also like to brew my own beer.
Tell us a quirky fact about yourself?
I was asked to play for Adelaide United Football Club when I was 18. I turned it down as I wanted to focus on my university studies.
